Prior to 1969, Australia did not have a national number for emergency services; the police, fire and ambulance services possessed many phone numbers, one for each local unit.

Rosters

Ambulance and fire call-takers and dispatchers located at the ESTA State Emergency Communications Centre in Burwood East.

This roster is two day shifts, two night shifts and four shifts off.

This roster is an eight day cycle of twelve hour shifts. This means you can expect to be rostered, on average, for work on at least one day in five out of every eight weekends.
