Aoife - 2018 Junior Triple Zero Hero

Meet courageous Aoife, one of ESTA's 2018 Junior Triple Zero Heroes

A five-year-old girl from Berwick is a Junior Triple Zero Hero, receiving an Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority (ESTA) award for calling triple zero when her mum collapsed and stopped breathing.

Aoife Forsyth performed CPR on her mum and did a great job of caring for her mum and younger brother until help arrived.

She was one of 31 children who received awards from the Minister for Emergency Services, James Merlino and Minister for Health, Jill Hennessy, and guest presenter,1999 AFL Brownlow Medallist and Channel Nine presenter, Shane Crawford at a ceremony in Melbourne on Wednesday, 18 April 2018.

“Victoria’s brave Junior Triple Zero Heroes remained remarkably cool, calm and collected and are shining examples of how preparing children for an emergency can save lives,” Minister Merlino said.

ESTA’s CEO Marty Smyth said the awards highlighted the importance of teaching children and young people when and how to call triple zero.
